I Know Not…
I Know Not…
Why does the Sun come out, if it is to disappear? Why do we wake if it is to sleep? Why is the mule so fond of the camel? Why did the parrot lose his feathers? Can a horse be an ox?
An unexpected journey to the other side of the mirror. Poetry, humour, wit. Ancient yet groundbreaking multifaceted stories to be uncovered. Stories for wandering hearts and whirling Souls
Cairo, 2000, scholar & artist Shems Friedlander invites Chirine El Ansary to bring Rumi's poetry to life through public readings. A collaboration leading to the creation of I Know Not .
I Know Not is an immersive experience blending ancient mysticism and modern performance, inspired by Jalal ad-Din Rumi’s Masnavi, honoring the scent of the timeless poet.
Written in Persian between 1258 and 1273, the Masnavi is composed of 25,000 verses. Stories, poems, aphorisms weave in and out of one another into a tapestry of images and emotions.
